Description
Conditionally unstable atmosphere. The atmosphere is stable if the rising air is unsaturated (decreases at the dry adiabatic lapse rate) but unstable if the rising air is saturated (decreases at the saturated adiabatic lapse rate). A conditionally unstable atmosphere occurs when the environmental lapse rate is between the saturated adiabatic lapse rate and the dry adiabatic lapse rate.
